DJ Notes

A mysterious, late-night, techy, trancey affair recorded in the desert. Some very new stuff mixed with some very old stuff.

Story

This is the second half of this dead-of-night desert set. I was disappointed not to get the first half (it was good enough to motivate somebody to record the second half), but I’m happy to have caught part of it. We threw our annual fall Northern California party in the Southern California desert this year. It was musically satisfying. We covered nearly every color in the musical rainbow, from pop to hip-hop to reggae to latin to techno to house to breaks to trance to God knows. This was also a memorable party for me because it was the first time I ever played all CDs anywhere, at any event, for any purpose, private or public. CDs are more agreeable to the desert than vinyl. I also quickly learned about playing CDs that if your head isn’t on entirely straight, sometimes it’s a little harder to keep track of what you may have already not not played (though nobody seemed to notice).

Critic Says

Worth a listen if only for the melange of old and new. Some solid execution to boot (track repeats notwithstanding).
